BILLIE MARTINELLI
COASTAL CRIME QUEEN
stats
basics
Queenpin who, since seizing control of her organization, has brought it to unprecedented power along the Eastern US coast. Known for unwavering pragmatism, a brilliant mind for business and accounting, and slowly-growing ruthlessness.
history
- Born Sabrina Martinelli, the niece of the Donati Crime Family’s Consigliere. Sabrina (Billie to her friends and family) grew up vaguely understanding that her uncle was friends with important people, and that her father somehow worked for him. Her Uncle, Vic, took a shine to her, helped her study math and history and economics during high school.
- Went to college to study accounting. Considered getting an MBA, but instead opted to get a law degree. By this time, she had a better understanding of what her uncle did, of how her father was a fairly run-of-the-mill soldier in the family, brought on only by Vic’s insistence. Respected her uncle’s wishes that she stay out of the business, but got a job at a major firm thanks to his connections.
- Helped Evelina Donati (the Boss’ pampered daughter) out of a legal conundrum by chance, got drafted in as her personal fixer and lawyer, making drug charges and speeding tickets vanish. Evelina’s brothers started to ask her to look over some figures and shipments that weren’t adding up, Billie found somebody who’d been skimming off the top, and oops, now she’s a mob lawyer.
- Continued to work for the Donati Family, taking on more responsibility and becoming a trusted inner circle member.
- The Donati Family - and her uncle - are killed in a plane crash, believed to be orchestrated by one of their rivals, but nobody has concrete proof. Except for Billie, who’d been quietly combing through Bruno Donati’s finances (cousin of Evelina) when she noticed his suits and car were just a little too nice. After some investigating, she found payments from one of the neighboring families (the Bossos) to him - he helps them eliminate their rivals, he gets the remnants of the organization to live out his mob fantasy.
- For a couple months, Billie lays a trap for the Bosso family - a few payments from her personal accounts, some anonymous tips, forged papers and hacked servers, and she’s ready. All the while, she still acts the part of one of Bruno’s advisers, though it’s clear that he’s keeping her around out of continuity, and has a plan to dispose her later.
- During a meeting while Bruno is raving about ‘getting blood for blood,’ Billie turns on the television to show the entire top brass of the Bosso family arrested for money laundering, racketeering, and murder. She informs the rest of the leaders that they can stay with Bruno’s anger and betrayal and inevitably be destroyed by another gang or the government, or they can join her to get results.
- For her first act as Boss, she orders Bruno executed.
- Six years later, and the Martinelli Organization has neatly taken over the businesses of both its predecessor and rival, as well as spread its influence and control down the Eastern seaboard. They dabble in gambling, prostitution, drugs, guns, extortion, embezzlement, counterfit clothing and electronics, and a whole lot of dirt on some very powerful people.

personality
Ice Queen, goal-oriented, concerned with profit and growth over things like morals. A firm believer in mutually ‘beneficial’ agreements (though saving the bulk of the benefit to herself), and that everybody has their price. Profoundly cynical, particularly when it comes to the intelligence and agency of the average person. Dislikes showboating and attention. Sees little point (or profit) in revenge, though has been known to thoroughly enjoy seeing a victim squirm.
